Implant Incision and Placement

To achieve the best results, Dr. Lichten typically places the implants through the natural skin crease below the breast. Known as an "inframammary" incision, this option allows him to place the implant precisely while minimizing scarring by hiding it in the skin crease. In some cases, he uses a periareolar incision, which also achieves almost invisible scarring.

You also have options regarding the placement of your implants. For breast augmentation, Dr. Lichten can place your implant behind the chest muscle or above it. Most women choose to have the implant placed behind the muscle. However, depending on your anatomy, Dr. Lichten may recommend placing your implants above the muscle.
