Skincare Columbus

Dr. Jason Lichten, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, and Natalie Milliser, our Licensed Aesthetician have researched numerous skin care lines currently on the market. Based on their extensive survey, they have selected three lines: ZO, Epionce and Environ as the skincare that we carry at Central Ohio Plastic Surgery. Dr. Lichten and Natalie believe that these products are backed by strong scientific research and offer you advanced ways to maintain a healthy, youthful skin tone. In addition, we offer Latisse for those patients who are looking to enhance the appearance and volume of their eyelashes. Latisse creates longer, thicker and darker lashes.

How Does Latisse Work?

Our whole staff has been extensively trained in Epionce, ZO and Environ. We are equipped to create customized treatment plans and to select the right products to help you reach your skin care goals. We recognize that skin changes as we age, and we are prepared to work with you every step of the aging process – modifying your routine as needed – to be your long term partner in beauty.

There are many skin care products on the market today. Be aware, however, that if you buy your products at the drugstore or the mall, you are not getting medical-grade skincare. Because of FDA regulations, any product that penetrates the surface of the skin must be overseen by a doctor. Therefore, anything you buy at the mall is necessarily only fixing the surface layer of your skin, rather than addressing the cellular layers of the skin to effect real change. In addition, many retail cosmetic products advertise that they contain Tretinoin, Hyaluronic Acid or Hydroquinone, which are ingredients that plastic surgeons have been recommending for years. A closer look at those department store/ drugstore products will show that those ingredients are very far down on the list of active ingredients as opposed to the concentration you will get in medical grade skincare.

Of all of the skincare products available today, Dr. Lichten has selected three products as his “must haves” for almost everyone. Dr. Lichten’s Must Haves are Tretinoin, a Serum and Sunscreen.

  • Tretinoin – Tretinoin is a form of Retin A. It promotes skin cell turnover, which resurfaces the skin and helps with fine lines and wrinkles. Tretinoin comes in a number of strengths and formulations, so it is important for you to have expert guidance as you try these products.
  • Serum – a lightweight serum hydrator like either ZO Daily Power Defense or Epionce Intense Defense Serum. These products will leave you with healthier, more radiant skin.
  • Sunscreen – For those of you who have spent any time with Dr. Lichten, it will come as no surprise that his third “must have” is sunscreen. He believes strongly that year-round protection against UV is the best way to prevent skin cancer and the signs of aging. We have a number of different options for sunscreen to match your lifestyle, skin type and budget.

ZO Medical products

After many years of carrying Obagi products, we switched our focus to a new skin care line, ZO Medical. ZO Medical products were developed by Dr. Zein Obagi, the same physician who developed the original Obagi Nu Derm line. ZO Medical is his next generation of skincare products and, like Obagi, is only available through doctors’ offices.

ZO provides comprehensive solutions to many skin issues to create healthy, beautiful skin. ZO defines healthy skin as being smooth, strong, firm, even-toned, hydrated and disease free. Whether your concerns are wrinkles, pore size or discoloration, we will personalize a skin care plan for you.

As with Epionce, we carry most products in the ZO Medical line, so we can create a customized skin care regimen designed to suit your individual needs and goals. Our patients have been loving the results they get from ZO.

Epionce Skincare

Epionce is a top of the line, state of the art skincare line backed by years of research and scientific data. Epionce’s entire aesthetic product line rests on the science of the skin’s own healing abilities. The philosophy behind Epionce is that “healthy skin is beautiful skin.” Following that theory, the line does not contain any harsh ingredients that can irritate the skin or cause unnecessary dryness.

We recommend Epionce for all of our patients, but in particular, our cancer patients who have been advised to find Paraben free skin care. Epionce’s formulas are botanical based and are paraben, fragrance, sulfate and gluten free. It is cruelty free. Epionce also comes in at a lower price point than other skin care lines we have carried in the past, so it is accessible to more of our patients.

We keep most products in the Epionce line stocked in the office so we have them instantly available for you. That also enables us to create a personalized beauty regimen that fits with your skin needs, lifestyle and budget. Depending on the regimen we put together for you, Epionce is designed to create improvement in

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Dark spots and discoloration
  • Rough and uneven texture
  • Dry and scaly skin
  • Blemished and problem skin
  • Clarity and radiance

Environ

We continue to carry our favorite 3 products from Environ – Dermalac, Body Profile Cream and Vitamin A, C & E Body Oil. Dr. Lichten and Natalie have been using this on our patients who have had body contouring surgery to help them get smoother, clearer skin as they heal from surgery. We also recommend these products to patients who have concerns about freckles and other discolorations on their arms, legs and décolletage.
