Conveniently Located to Serve Columbus and Lancaster

A mini facelift has a smaller scope than its full counterpart, the traditional facelift. This variation focuses more on sagging skin around the lower half of the face. It also uses smaller incisions, offers an easier recovery, and has a narrower number of target areas. Patients who are interested in getting a mini facelift in Columbus can call Dr. Jason Lichten for a consultation.

What Is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is a procedure that involves smaller incisions, the potential transferring of fat, the removal of excess skin, and the tightening of the remaining skin tissue. It’s still an invasive procedure despite the name, but it is less invasive than a full facelift. Like a full facelift, it refines and sculpts sagging areas of the face while reducing wrinkles.

Sometimes, a mini facelift is combined with a brow lift or eye lift for more comprehensive facial-rejuvenation results. If you want to reduce unwelcome signs of aging in several areas of the face, you can discuss your options with Dr. Lichten during the consultation.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

The ideal candidates for a mini facelift are patients who have begun to show less-severe signs of aging, particularly sagging skin around the lower halves of their faces. It is typically reserved for patients in their 40s or 50s. Thanks to their smaller incisions, a mini facelift is also a good option if you are more concerned about scars.

Smokers are not ideal candidates for the mini facelift procedure. This is because smoking negatively affects the health and elasticity of the skin. As a result, it can impair the healing process and even result in complications. Because of this, patients must quit smoking at least four weeks before the procedure is performed.

A mini facelift is not ideal for patients who currently show signs of severe facial aging, such as deep age lines and folds. This procedure is not for everyone. The best way to determine if it is the right procedure is to come in for a consultation with Dr. Lichten.

Your Mini Facelift Consultation

Patients who come in for a mini facelift consultation will first be examined to ensure that they are suitable for the procedure. Minimal sagging around the jaws and neck would be ideal. Patients will also be asked about their goals for the procedure. Dr. Lichten will also discuss alternatives like the full facelift, chemical peels, laser treatments, eyelid lifts, and neck lifts.

During this time, the specifics of the mini facelift procedure will be discussed, as well as what it can offer patients. Details regarding recovery and preparation will also be explained.

The Mini Facelift Procedure

A mini facelift procedure starts with the application of local anesthesia with sedation to put the patient to sleep. In some cases, general anesthesia may be used.

Once the anesthesia takes effect, small incisions will be made around the ears near the hairline. After that, the underlying tissues will be rearranged to achieve the desired effect. Excess skin will also be removed when necessary. This process can lift and tighten cheek tissues to rejuvenate the face, sharpen the jawline, and remove jowling.

After that, the remaining skin will then be pulled back into place. The incisions will be closed with sutures, and the patient’s face will be covered with bandages. It usually takes around three to four hours to perform the procedure.

Mini Facelift Aftercare

Once patients wake up following their mini facelift, they can expect minor soreness/pain. There will be dressings covering the stitches, and in some cases, drains may have been placed. They will be given medication to take to reduce the pain and prevent infections. The patient will then be sent home and scheduled to return after 10 days for a follow-up.

Patients can expect a degree of bruising and swelling in the days to follow, which should subside after a week. Rest and relaxation are advised during the recovery period, and patients are discouraged from participating in vigorous activities.

Full recovery will take several weeks, but the results of the mini lift can be dramatic. You results can be maintained with more anti-aging procedures or surgery to ensure optimal results. Patients are also encouraged to continue healthy skincare routines and lifestyle choices.

How Much Does a Mini Facelift Cost?

The cost of a mini facelift will depend on several factors that will be determined during a consultation. The price can be affected by anesthesia fees, the exact techniques used, hospital fees, and the total time needed to perform the surgery.

Patients may also be interested in our financing options. We offer financing through Prosper Healthcare Lending, Park National Bank, and CareCredit.
