Part of performing a breast reduction operation is knowing the right incision to fit the patient’s needs. This will be determined using the input of the patient during a preliminary consultation. One incision possibility is the traditional incision, also known as an anchor incision.

An anchor incision is anchor-shaped, with a circle for the intended areola site, a vertical incision down from the areola, and a horizontal incision along the curve of the bottom of the breast. This allows for the greatest amount of access to the internal breast tissues during a breast reduction.
